California Pacific Medical Center 2010 Annual Report
“I want you to know how much I appreciate all of your hard work on the photo shoots for this project. Your willingness to accommodate our crazy schedules, shoot a ton of stuff in just a few hours, and remain calm and flexible through it all was a huge help. Your photos turned out beautifully and the report wouldn’t look this god without you. Thanks a million.”

You shoot and you shoot whoever it is that you’re shooting, you try this angle and that angle, looking up, looking down, trying a profile and shooting straight on. You put on a wide angle and then, perhaps, thinking that maybe a short telephoto will work better you try some of that. You circle your subject and get closer, and then even closer, and then you back up 7 to 10 feet thinking maybe that will do the trick. You may try available light, or you may use lights – 1 light, 2 lights, maybe a 3rd. You slow down and talk for a bit, striking up a conversation, building a rapport, so you can get that revealing portrait that you know you want and the client wants.
So how then do you know when you’ve got that darn portrait that you’ve worked so hard to get? I’ll tell you what – I don’t know that this works for everyone, but for us it’s that moment when it all comes together in an “aaaha moment,” when you feel a slight tingle on the hairs of your back and you feel the breeze on your arms, when all your senses are suddenly aware, and have given you the signal that something really good just happened.
Let us help you focus and define where you want to be with your photography. We offer portfolio review, critiques, and development consultations. Consultation is on an hourly basis. [ MORE ]
